تسعى جامعة نورثوسترن في قطر إلى استقطاب زميل متميز لشغل منصب هيئة تدريس بدوام كامل ولجميع الرتب الأكاديمية في مجال الاقتصاد السياسي، للعمل ضمن برنامج الفنون الحرة. نرحب بالباحثين الذين يمتلكون أجندة بحثية نشطة تدرس الاقتصاد السياسي من منظور نقدي أو عالمي أو مقارن أو عابر للحدود، مع اهتمام خاص بالمقاربات متعددة التخصصات للجنوب العالمي. قد تشمل مجالات الخبرة دراسات التنمية النقدية، والاقتصاد السياسي النسوي، أو الاقتصاد السياسي ما بعد الاستعماري/إزالة الاستعمار، والعلاقات بين دول الجنوب، والاقتصاد السياسي النقدي للإعلام، والمناخ والاستخراجية، وأنظمة العمل، والاقتصادات السياسية الزراعية، وسياسات الديون. يمكن للمرشحين أن يكونوا من خلفيات في العلوم السياسية أو الاقتصاد أو دراسات الإعلام أو الدراسات العالمية أو علم الاجتماع أو التاريخ أو الأنثروبولوجيا. يُتوقع من المرشحين أن يتمتعوا بكفاءة لغوية وخبرة ميدانية في مجال بحثهم.
بالإضافة إلى سجل بحثي مثبت يتناسب مع الرتبة الأكاديمية، أو مسار بحثي واعد للغاية للمرشحين الحاصلين على درجة الدكتوراه حديثاً، يجب على المتقدمين إظهار كفاءة في العمل مع المجتمعات العالمية، والتزام قوي بالتميز في التدريس والتوجيه، وتفانٍ في الخدمة المؤسسية والحوكمة المشتركة. يُتوقع من المرشحين المساهمة في التعليم الجامعي والدراسات العليا المستقبلية وتطوير البرامج. تشمل توقعات التدريس تدريس مساقين في الفصل الدراسي الواحد، والتي قد تشمل مساقات تأديبية أساسية، ومساقات اختيارية تتوافق مع مجال بحثهم، بالإضافة إلى المساهمة في الاحتياجات المنهجية الأوسع لجامعة نورثوسترن في قطر. قد يشمل ذلك مساق "طرق المعرفة" المطلوب، ومساق ندوة الدوحة للمتفوقين، وحلقات الدراسات العليا، ودروس التعليم التنفيذي، أو المساقات المؤهلة للعدد المتزايد من التخصصات الفرعية متعددة التخصصات في جامعتنا، مثل دراسات الأفريكانية، والذكاء الاصطناعي ودراسات الإعلام، والسينما والتصميم، والإعلام والسياسة، ودراسات الشرق الأوسط، والاتصال الاستراتيجي. كما تتوفر فرص للتعاون مع معهد دراسات الجنوب العالمي المتقدمة، ومختبر الذكاء الاصطناعي والإعلام، ومتحف الميديا مجالس في جامعة نورثوسترن في قطر.

Political Economy in the Global South
Liberal Arts Program
Northwestern University in Qatar seeks an outstanding colleague for a full-time open rank faculty position in Political Economy, to be appointed in the Liberal Arts Program. We welcome scholars with an active research agenda examining political economy from a critical, global, comparative, or transnational perspective, with a special interest in interdisciplinary approaches to the Global South. Areas of expertise may include critical development studies, feminist political economy, or post/de-colonial political economy, south-south relations, critical political economy of the media, climate and extractivism, labor regimes, agrarian political economies, and the politics of debt. Candidates could come from political science, economics, media studies, global studies, sociology, history, or anthropology. Candidates are expected to have linguistic competence and field experience in their area of research.
In addition to a demonstrated research record commensurate with rank, or a highly promising research trajectory for candidates with a recent PhD, applicants should show competence in working with global communities, a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring, and dedication to institutional service and shared governance. Candidates are expected to contribute to both undergraduate and future graduate education and program development. Teaching expectations include two courses per semester, which may include core disciplinary courses, elective courses that speak to their research field, as well as contribution to NU-Q’s broader curricular needs. This could include the required “Ways of Knowing” course, the Doha Seminar honors course, graduate seminars, executive education classes, or courses qualifying for our university’s growing number of interdisciplinary minors, such as Africana Studies, AI and Media Studies, Film and Design, Media and Politics, Middle East Studies, and Strategic Communication. There are also opportunities to collaborate with NU-Q’s Institute for Advanced Study of the Global South, Artificial Intelligence and Media Lab, and Media Majlis Museum.
